About the Author
Barbara Klein, PhD, ED, has her doctorate in child development and clinical psychology. She is an expert on identity development in twins. Alone in the Mirror: Twins in Therapy is her third book on psychological issues that are particular to twins. Her own experiences growing up as an identical twin are coupled with her clinical experiences and phenomenological research on twins.

Twins in Therapy

An amazing, phenomenal thought-provoking book. Dr. Klein has totally captured the essence of twin loss. For example, she explains in great detail the dynamics of how twins are raised can have an effect on them as to the depth of their loss as a surviving twin. It is clinically written in a way the lay person can understand. This is a must read for the mental health professional and is a welcome sight for those of us as twinless twins who try to explain why the loss of their twin is so difficult. Twins, twinless twins and their families will find it extremely helpful in learning all about the "twin world", so to speak.

It's okay to not get along with your twin

I have looked for years for a book like this, and am so pleased to have found it. It was such a relief to read a discussion of the implications of various parenting styles on the long-term effects of twin relationships. I have talked with many people over the years who have regarded the twin relationship as any other sibling relationship, but it's not, there's a connection there that is much deeper than another sibling, Dr. Klein's book finally discusses that relationship and the fact that in many cases adult twins do not get along, and that's okay. There is so much written about the bond of twinship and that it is some perfect relationship when the truth is much different, at least it is for me. This book filled in gaps and confirmed things that I had figured out for myself, it has helped me to move on from my imperfect twin relationship. Thank you, Dr. Klein!

Very insightful

This is a wonderful Book. Barbara Klein has a very good handle on the unique issues twins face and her approach to loss is sensitive and valuable. I am a twin who has always been unable to face the possibility of losing, not just my twin sister, but anyone close to me. I feel this book will help me be less afraid of this issue.
